Focus SB wins Equality Trailblazer award
Focus SB was awarded the Equality Trailblazer for Diversity and Inclusion winner trophy at a Sussex Chamber awards event held at DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole on 28th June hosted by Strictly Come Dancing celebrity Brendan Cole, and is put forward to compete for the coveted national British Chamber Business Awards.
We were recognised for championing diversity and promoting inclusion in our workforce for our community outreach work and have been awarded a prestigious Sussex Chamber Business Award in the Equality Trailblazer category, sponsored by Sherrards Employment Law Solicitors.

Mrs Val Chandler, Focus SB's Assembly and Warehouse Manager was delighted to be presented with the winner trophy by celebrity host Brendan Cole and was congratulated by category sponsor Mr Harry Sherrard. Also attending the event was Val’s husband Mr Richard Chandler from the same department and Mr Mark Curtis our Technical Manager and his wife. The Charity partner for the 2024 awards was the Wolo Foundation which helps families in Sussex affected by cancer in Sussex. Over £6,800 was raised on the night for this incredible cause.
Mrs Chandler, who works extensively with local charity Little Gate Supported Employment, planning work experience for schools and colleges and employing apprentices said: “It was a brilliant night had by all.”
Our three mechanical engineering, metal finishing and component assembly facilities are located on the Castleham Industrial Estate on the outskirts of Hastings, where we provide employment and apprenticeship opportunities and have contributed to both the local and British export economy for over 44 years.
