Congratulations to SHE apprentice
A huge congratulations to Molly for passing her exams and finishing her course, SHE Apprenticeship Level 3 - Safety, Health and Environment Technician, plus gaining a Level 4 in Accident Investigation.
Molly’s new title will be Health & Safety Technician and we are very proud of her achievements!
Molly, who started with us in July 2022, heard about a career with us by chance via her mum who works for one of our supported employment partners Little Gate Farm. Little Gate had already approached our HR manager Mrs Jo Cloute to ask for her help at an interviewing training day, and during the day Jo happened to get talking with Daxa (Molly’s mum) who said that her daughter was just finishing her A levels and wanted to work in health and safety. Luckily, we had an opening, so we invited Molly for a interview and she was perfect for the position!
Molly is a great asset to Focus SB and even though she works in a predominantly male environment, she enjoys the challenge of enforcing and implementing our Health and Safety rules, plus she strives to make our work environment better and she is in the process of refurbing our canteen, focusing on employee well-being and identifying additional opportunities to make it more environmentally friendly.
Our Quality and Health & Safety Manager, Stephen Cloute congratulates Molly: “This is the first time we have ran the SHE apprenticeship programme with the training provider RHG and it has been a brilliant course to go through, Molly has progressed amazingly and her confidence has grown throughout the apprenticeship and she has helped in many areas around the business including H&S inductions, new systems and projects being developed which will and has aided the business with continual H&S surveillance.
Mr Cloute continues: “Molly’s knowledge on H&S has also been built up throughout the apprenticeship, providing advice to personnel as well as myself and is continually improving her knowledge on H&S requirements and laws. We are looking to further this education, by nurturing a positive H&S environment within the workplace and Molly plays a huge part in this, especially with the future plans and growth of the business.”
We hope Molly’s success story, and the stories of our other apprentices and trainees will encourage more women to work in manufacturing as there are so many careers on offer, such as engineering, CAD draughts person/designers, quality and H&S technician, finishers, press setters and CNC operators.
