Senior Engineer Nick Howe celebrates 50 years service
Mr Howe explains some of our precision engineering processes to The Princess Royal on 22nd November 2023 when Her Royal Highness formally presented us withThe King’s Award for Enterprise winner trophy for our achievement in International Trade.
Our Senior Engineer Mr Nick Howe recently celebrated 50 years service and all of us at Focus SB were pleased to congratulate him on achieving this landmark milestone in his career.
Staff, colleagues and friends joined together to toast Mr Howe and enjoy a slice of cake with him to celebrate his momentous achievement. Mr Gary Stevens, our MD, who was delighted to present Mr Howe with a traditionally-crafted timepiece from the house of Kieninger said: “It was a great pleasure for me to award this gift to Nick Howe, who has reached the unprecedented milestone with the Company of 50 years (and still going!). We are fortunate at Focus SB to have a loyal workforce with a significant number of employees with over 25 years service and some with 40 years! Coupled with a new generation of employees and apprentices who we are confident will be the future Nicks for Focus SB!”
Mr Howe, who was over the moon with his gift, said: “The Kieninger pendulum wall clock is from the oldest, still existing, manufacturer of mechanical clock movements for grandfather, wall and mantel clocks in the world. Founded in 1912 by Joseph Kieninger in Germany. Clocks have always been in my family, my great grandfather was a watchmaker and as an engineer I have always admired mechanical watches and clocks. I would love to own a rare antique clock! I was presented with a Gold Zenith watch from Bill and Charlie when I had worked for them for 25 years and thought I would like to continue the tradition for 50 years.”
On whether he is considering retirement, Nick said: “Looking forward to retiring! No seriously, it has been a good 50 years, very varied and fulfilling.”
