Little Gate Supported Employment Thank You Day
Senior Assembly Manager Val Chandler and her husband Richard, also from Focus SB, were delighted to attend a special ‘Thank You Day’ event at Little Gate Farm on Saturday 9th July with our PR and marketing consultant Suzi Baker.
The day was to mark support from local businesses, staff, parents and volunteers which enables to the charity to make a difference to many adults with autism and learning disabilities in the community and also celebrated a fantastic milestone of reaching 100 paid roles for its work trainees. Local MP Sally-Ann Hart, and a fellow Disability Confident employer, also attended to show her support for the charity’s tremendous work.
We are proud to have contributed to the charity’s journey for over four years now which has seen three people come to us, two of which are now permanently employed valuable part time members of staff in Val’s department, Connor and Steven. It was lovely to get a mention from Little Gate CEO Andrea Randall-Smith who said ‘Focus SB is one of our strongest employers’.
Job coach Christine described her role and shared how much she enjoyed her work with the trainees at Little Gate, and we were given an informative and well-presented tour of the facilities by three of the knowledgeable team Patrick, Scott and Tony. Tony joined Focus SB in his first role and now works for the NHS, telling us he enjoys working with different people and gaining different experiences.
Val says: “It was a fantastic afternoon learning all that Little Gate do and achieve with the help of companies to get people involved in getting employment. Well done also to all people involved with the tea and cakes - wow those cakes, who doesn't like cake?!”
Little Gate’s Social Enterprise Little Gate Flowers and Charcoal production is in full swing right now! The farm is completing regular burns which is helping them to manage their woodland, and also producing lots of bags to sell.
