Leading British designer Jasper Morrison visits Focus SB

Our last visit of 2023 was in December when we were thrilled to welcome renowned British product and furniture designer Jasper Morrison CBE RDI with lighting designer Philip Oakley, for a tour of our factory and recently launched Renaissance range on display at our metal component manufacturing and finishing facilities on the outskirts of Hastings, East Sussex.
Known for his approach to the design of everyday objects reflected in an exhibition Super Normal* in Japan in 2006; British furniture, lighting and product designer, Jasper Morrison is one of the 200 current royal society for arts, manufacture and commerce RSA Royal Designers for Industry (RDI)** recognised for Furniture Design in 2001.
Philip Oakley, who has a passion for neon lighting is best known for his work on the Blackpool Illuminations before setting up his own company Oakley Illuminations based in Hastings, where he now specialises in one off smaller scale pieces for domestic as well as commercial use.
Our Managing Director, Gary Stevens commented: “It is always a pleasure and a privilege to take customers and prospective customers around our factories where we can showcase our artisan skills alongside some cutting edge automation technology, but when we get the opportunity to show an icon of the design industry like Jasper, and lighting designer Philip, it is even more exciting. The thoughts and ideas provoked from our tour was eye opening and certainly gave us all some food for thought!”
