Future Ready Students from Little Gate College visit factory

On Friday 18th October we welcomed a group of 12 Future Ready students and five Job Coaches from Little Gate College to our main St Leonards-on-Sea factory site, where visitors were able to enjoy some hands-on experience including component assembly.
The visit started with general housekeeping followed by a health and safety run through with our Health & Safety Technician, Molly Parmar, which included handout of safety glasses and offering provision for anyone needing a quiet space or ear defenders as the factory can be quite noisy.
This was followed by a short welcome video from our Managing Director, Gary Stevens before the visitors were split into two groups to tour our production facilities and take part in timed trials of product assembly and boxing up products, with a prize for the first person to complete the task.
Tracey-Anne Cook, Client and Employer Engagement at Little Gate College said: “Focus SB have been an employer partner with Little Gate since 2018. They have always been a huge supporter of the work we do, including offering both paid employment and Supported Apprenticeship opportunities for Trainees.
“Thank you so much to Jo Cloute for inviting our College students to visit the manufacturing facility. It was such an informative tour with Molly and an interesting task-making session. A fascinating morning for all of our Future Ready students who thoroughly enjoyed learning more about what Focus SB do.”
HR Manager, Jo Cloute said: “It was great to welcome all the Little Gate College Students for a factory visit, especially as it was the first one we have done at our Napier site, where they learnt more about the different processes in manufacturing, which I think everyone enjoyed, especially the cakes and drinks.”
