Community career events

This month we are excited to be attending the Glenleigh Park Primary Academy and Nursery's careers fair. This will be the first time we have worked with primary school students so we are hoping to show that working in manufacturing is both rewarding and fun, especially as we will be taking our new mini remote control forklift so some of the students can have a go at loading and unloading parcels. Discover what Year 10 and 11 students from Saxon Mount School experienced when they visited us at the factory in February.
The Sussex Council of Training Providers is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to run two free Apprenticeship Roadshow Events in Hastings and Eastbourne this Summer. Our HR Manager, Jo Cloute who is a volunteer Enterprise Adviser and a Careers East Sussex Industry Champion will attend the Careers Hub East Sussex Apprenticeship Roadshow at the White Rock on Tuesday 24th June 2025, 4:30-6:30pm to meet members of the local community who’d like to know more about an apprenticeship or career in manufacturing.
Pleased to have attended a number of events Mrs Jo Cloute says: “Focus SB has been attending the Apprenticeship Roadshows for several years and we believe this event is vital to our recruitment process. The roadshows offer potential apprentices of all ages the opportunity to see the advantages of apprenticeships firsthand. Plus, the roadshows help to address common misconceptions, such as concerns about low wages, exploitation or poor training conditions and allows individuals to speak directly with knowledgeable employers and training providers.”
Enjoy our ‘Spotlight on apprenticeships’ blog post and be inspired by some of our apprentices’ stories and successes - including our Managing Director, Gary Stevens, who began his career as a technical apprentice aged 16.
