General Manager Chris Turner Retires
Chris was presented with an Omega diving watch by our new Managing Director, Ciaran Mitchell.
We bid a fond farewell to our General Manager, Chris Turner at the end of last year marked by a presentation at our main factory on the 18th December. Chris was given an Omega diving watch by our new Managing Director, Ciaran Mitchell, which was followed by a lunch with friends and colleagues. Chairman, Gary Stevens joined remotely to give a speech.
Chris’s career started as a trainee for a well-known high-end architectural ironmongery company involved in supplying royal residences and other ministerial buildings with bespoke and hand finished door furniture. In this role he achieved various in-house and college awards including City and Guilds accreditations for mechanical engineering.
In the early eighties Chris moved to another company that also supplied electrical accessories alongside the ironmongery, it was here he took up a supervisory role whilst gaining knowledge in the spraying department and ultimately managing that department. He went on to instigate and achieve BS5750 for this company and at the same time gained Associate Member for the Institute of Quality Assurance.
The majority of Chris’s career saw him working for Focus SB in most of the departments which allowed him to acquire all round knowledge of the business. As General Manager, Chris’s full responsibility included Engineering, Production and Assembly.
Chris hosted multiple fascinating factory tours for design consultants, electrical contractors, local dignitaries, MPs and royalty.
MD Ciaran Mitchell says: “It is the people that make our business successful. With a career spanning more than 35 years at Focus SB, Chris was proud to be a member of the team and we are proud of the legacy he leaves behind. We wish him a long, happy and healthy retirement spending time with his family and enjoying his hobbies and adventurous travels.”
