Senior manager Val celebrates 25 years of service

Congratulations from colleagues, customers and friends to Val Chandler, our Assembly Manager, as she celebrates 25 years of service on 15th March!

Val says: “Wow 25 years, where has that time gone? I can safely say working at Focus SB has its challenges, no two days are the same, but Focus SB is my second family and that is why I love it so much!"

With over 35 years of experience in electrical manufacturing, Val originally started working in our assembly department for Sussex Brassware in the eighties, leaving for a short while to have her family and then re-joining Focus SB in 1997.

Over the years Val has worked her way up, gaining knowledge and the key skills we value in our managers. The great thing about Val is that she believes that everyone deserves a chance so she is always the first to offer her time to help others. She is an advocate of employing a more inclusive and diverse workforce demonstrated by her extensive work with local charity Little Gate Farm, planning work experience for schools and colleges and employing apprentices.

As the only female member of our senior management team, Val is a force to be reckoned with, she is always looking to make improvements within the business. Val is respected by her staff and always endeavours to make Focus SB a fun and productive place to work.

Our MD Gary Stevens comments: "Val is 110% Focus SB, I am sure if you cut her in half you would see Focus SB written through her! She keeps us all on our toes - especially me, but the one thing you know with Val is that everything is about the company and her staff and not her, I wish we could clone her!!"

To mark the occasion Val was over the moon to be presented with a Canon camera and is looking forward to taking lovely photographs of her granddaughter.
