iCan careers event workshop
On Tuesday 4 November we were once again pleased to support a Careers East Sussex iCan event at the Kings Centre in Eastbourne. The event brought together education, training, and employment providers, alongside support services for parents, carers, and young people with additional needs.
HR Manager, Jo Cloute said: ‘We hosted six sessions and worked with over 50 young people. Our CAD apprentice George and I led the “Assembling a Socket and Box” workshop, where the quickest time of the day was 57 seconds. Unfortunately, that means our company record of 55 seconds was not broken! However all the students tried their best, had a fun time and we received some great feedback from the Careers Hub team.’
Attendee, Wendy Coxeter, Qualified Careers Advisor to Robertsbridge Community College and CDI (Career Development Institute) Member commented: ‘Last week I had the pleasure of attending the iCan Careers Fair in Eastbourne with a fantastic group of students. This brilliant event, organised by the East Sussex Careers Hub, was created specifically for neurodivergent students and those with SEN needs, ensuring they have meaningful access to employers and future pathways. Back at Robertsbridge Community College, we then hosted our Mock Interview Day, giving our students the chance to practice real-life interview skills with the support and expertise of local employers. A huge thank you to Jo and everyone who supports careers education in our county. It truly takes a community, and I’m grateful to be part of one that shows up so wholeheartedly.’
