Index Dubai 2016

INDEX Dubai 2016 proved to be one of the most successful events dedicated to commercial interior design, and welcomed over 27,000 visitors according to show organisers. The range of new show features included the INDEX Design Innovation Forum, which provided a platform to share current trends and design challenges, and the event showcased over 1000 interior design product suppliers.

Created and designed by trend forecasters Scarlet Opus especially for the event, The Trend Hub, sponsored by decorative art panels designer Alex Turco, was themed around the concept of 'a day in the life...' Showcasing exciting textures and materials from around the world in the form of a home lounge, office workplace and coffee shop, The Trend Hub design zones featured furniture from Boss Design and Interface flooring.

'Privacy' offered a comfortable space offering the chance for visitors to enjoy a quiet moment in the midst of a bustling show, and 'take back control' of their lives in a world where we share ourselves 24/7.The space was designed to enable exploration of 'revealing' and 'concealing' and featured cocooned furniture by Boss Design and accessories by Worlds Away, cushions by Casador. Conceived to investigate how to inject fun into the workplace, 'Play' featured bright, colourful design, with a table tennis table which proved popular with visitors, and a spinning tube chair by Boss Design.

Exploring connections with nature, natural materials and people dominates future design trends, and the 'Organic Matter' area of The Trend Hub inspired visitors to reconnect with naturalness and discover innovative, design inspired processes in the comfortable snug featuring Tunisian made fouta towels and lifestyle essentials from Bains de Mer.

The Sample Table included more innovative materials, textures and surfaces by Gemstone Tile, Muraspec, Vescom, Altfield London, Hornschurch Group, Armourcoat, Carina Sohl, Newmor Wallcoverings, Ober Surfaces, Northern Engraving, Campioni, Shou Sugi Ban and Focus SB.
