Open doors and work experience programmes

As part of this year's Careers Hub East Sussex Open Doors, we are pleased to be one of the businesses offering visits and work experience to secondary school and college students in East Sussex.

Students visiting our Moorhurst Road site in St Leonards are supervised by Mrs Val Chandler our Assembly and Warehouse Manager. They will get to tour the stores, dispatch and assembly areas of the site and learn about the company and manufacturing sector before taking part in some practical activities linked to some of the different job roles with us. This is a great opportunity for young people who are interested in a career in engineering or manufacturing after they leave school.

Mrs Chandler plans work experience for students from local schools and colleges, with support from Mrs Jo Cloute our HR & Customer Aftercare Manager, and has employed two warehousing apprentices to date in her department.

Mr Gary Stevens, our MD says: “We decided to make a real push to implement a strategy to bring in apprentices and graduates and trainees six years ago and fortunately we are seeing the fruits of our efforts now, but we do not rest on our laurels. Our HR Manager, Mrs Jo Cloute is an Enterprise Adviser and works closely with local schools, colleges and universities to encourage more young people into Focus SB.”
