Focus SB offers one of the widest ranging and highest quality finishes portfolios in the UK. Our finishes enhance superior products with trimless design featuring crisp edges and clean lines, offering more metal plate with less plastic trim. We offer electrophoretic lacquering of polished brass plates providing durability and a hard wearing finish, ensuring our products keep their appearance over time, and are one of the only UK manufacturers able to match rocker and toggle switches to plate finishes.

Plated Finishes

Includes nickel and chrome, and is a process whereby the base material (solid brass) is coated in a thin layer of plating to achieve a high quality decorative finish (in addition to a corrosion protective layer to the base material).

Living Finishes

Bronzes and unlacquered brass are commonly referred to as ‘living finishes’ due to the nature of the chemical process and the continuing reaction of the finish to the natural environment and general handling in the normal course of use. This means that the finish will change over time giving that authentic ‘ageing’ effect and individual character to the plate. Matching new plates to a ‘living finish’ previously supplied will not be exact, with no two plates the same.

Colour Choices

With over 390 colours in stock our in house paint shop enables us to colour match and spray plates to RAL, Pantone or BS samples. Plates are supplied with nickel screws if spray painted in-house. (Non-stocked colours carry an additional surcharge. Please call the sales office for up to date pricing.)

Paintable / Primed

We offer paintable/primed plates ready to paint on site enabling designers to create a perfect match or a striking contrast to wallcoverings. Paintable plates are supplied with a white primer coating. Whilst some customers prefer to leave the primed coat as their final finish, this is designed to be lightly ‘keyed’ and painted on site to customer specification before final fitting. Our paintable/primed finish is available in all our flat plate styles. The Morpheus screwless plate style or any bespoke plate manufactured by us can also be supplied in a primed finish by special order. 

The primed surface needs to be keyed sufficiently to allow the paint to adhere properly, for this we would recommend 800 grit paper.

We use an Electrophoretic Prime Paint (primed for painting using most types of common paint in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations). However, we would recommend an acrylic based paint as the finish will only be as durable as the type of paint used.
